Volunteer Opportunities!

1.  Clean Up Day at PMPC - Saturday, April 6 from 10 am to 2 pm

Potluck snacks for lunch; the club will provide coffee and muffins.

The plan is to polish up the site to get ready for our 2019 paddle year! Cleaning the white trailer, all the boats, and picking up garbage.

What to Bring:

  • Gloves—both work gloves and rubber gloves
  • Buckets; scrub brushes and/or wash cloths or sponges
  • Muscles and your sense of humour

Come for a while - whether a little while, or all the while! Bring a friend even if they aren’t part of the membership yet. Many hands make light work!

It'll be fun and rewarding, cuz we're having company (see next announcement)

Email info@pmpc.ca to let us know you are coming. It will give us an idea of how many muffins to bring.

2.  Spring CKBC Events at PMPC

April 11-13 CanoeKayak BC Spring Training Camp

Sprint athletes from around the Province will gather to paddle on our great water.

Saturday mid-day will be an opportunity for training time – those who have been recently granted their PCOC certificate, and would like to learn how to drive the coach boat and how to rescue a kayak in the best way. Some of the club members have taken advantage of CKBC's offer of a subsidized online course to acquire the PCOC.

Now for the practical stuff! If you'd like the practice time on a coach/rescue boat, please let Katie know at commodore@pmpc.ca

Sunday, April 14 Long Distance Regatta

This is an informal day, but there may be opportunity to run the rescue boat. Stay tuned for further details.

Saturday, May 11 CKBC Long Distance Regatta

The PMPC is hosting this event. Volunteers are required to captain the rescue boats; and possibly operate a canteen. Our boats will be operational, along with other groups. Stay tuned for further details as they become available.

If you are interested in volunteering, email us at info@pmpc.ca and we will make sure you're on the email list that is distributed to all members.
